For 2026, Ovintiv looks to divest its Anadarko Basin assets and focus attention on the Montney (Canada) and Permian (Texas) assets. The sale process is expected to launch early in 1Q26, according to Ovintiv’s latest investor presentation.

Using Convey640’s well data, a search for Ovintiv-operated wells in Oklahoma (with latest production between 2020 and 2025) shows over 1,100 wells statewide.
Most of these wells target the Mississippian formation, followed by the Woodford formation, and the majority are oil producers.

Kingfisher County holds the dominant share of wells, whereas the remaining STACK and SCOOP counties show relatively even distribution among themselves.

The chart below gives a snapshot of when most of Ovintiv’s wells were completed across the Anadarko Basin.

So, who do you think the buyer will be? Will it be an existing Anadarko Basin operator expanding its footprint, or a new entrant looking to make a splash in Oklahoma?
Either way, it’ll be interesting to watch this divestment unfold.
And rest assured, Convey640 will be tracking the data and bringing updates as soon as they’re available.
